Intelliseek's Enhanced BlogPulse Offers Data-Rich Blog Profiles

Blogpulse.com upgrade includes more blog data, intelligent search and daily media rankings for a more robust view of activity and influence in the blogging world

CINCINNATI, Ohio (July 20, 2005) -- Intelliseek's Blogpulse.com, one of the most popular and user-friendly Internet tools for understanding blog activity, has launched a major upgrade of its web site to showcase more daily blog data and a "BlogPulse Profiles" section that provides thumbnail sketches of the Internet's most influential blogs.

In addition to daily lists of the blogosphere's top links, key phrases and most-discussed personalities, BlogPulseâ„¢ now ranks each day's top blogs, blog posts, news sources and news stories cited by bloggers. The newly launched profile section quantifies blog influence based on citation-driven ranks and the posting/linking behaviors of the Internet's most popular and prolific blog authors.

"Influence matters"
"With this new edition of BlogPulse, marketers and bloggers can gain a much deeper understanding of how key bloggers are shaping, catalyzing, and influencing broader perceptions about brands, products, services and everyday issues," said Intelliseek CEO Mike Nazzaro.

Added CMO Pete Blackshaw: "Influence matters, and BlogPulse's new features offer one-click access to meaningful analysis that helps users understand the impact of blogs."

The profiling tool uses text-analysis technologies to rank top blogs and to quantify other key factors that quantify blog influence. For example, BlogPulse users can find out which news sources blogs refer to the most, which other blogs authors cite most frequently in their commentaries, and which blogs are similar in content and focus. (Intelliseek's BrandPulse® solution enables clients to capture even deeper marketing intelligence from a wider pool of Internet data).

The BlogPulse upgrade includes:

  • New interface: A reconfigured home page allows easier one-click access to BlogPulse's most popular services and tools, including featured trend graphs and a graph-creation tool, a blog search engine, conversation tracker and blog profiles.
  • More data: BlogPulse has identified more than 14 million blogs and adds an average 40,000-50,000 new blogs daily to its index. A list of top blogs and top blog posts will join the daily tally of personalities, key phrases and top links.
  • Enhanced search: Blog search results, previously sorted only by date or text relevance, are now intelligently sorted using a combination of date and blog rank for more relevant information.
  • Daily media rankings: The BlogPulse home page now features a daily rank of the top media/news sources and the top news stories cited most frequently by bloggers.
  • Specialty entertainment blog: Building on the success of the site's popular "BlogPulse Newswire" blog (formerly BlogPulse Highlights) offering a daily summary of activity in the blogosphere, a separate entertainment-focused Spotlight blog highlights information on celebrities, movies, music, publishing and other entertainment venues.
  • More RSS feeds:  The new BlogPulse provides more opportunities for users to subscribe to syndicated key content sources, search results, and graphs.
  • Similar-site tracking: A "Neighborhood" profiling function allows users to identify blog sites that cover similar material or topics.

"BlogPulse serves the blog community with great tools to help them better understand the blogosphere," said Sundar Kadayam, Intelliseek's chief technology officer. "Equally important, BlogPulse provides Intelliseek with a powerful product-development feedback loop to help develop equally robust marketing intelligence tools for our clients."

Launched in May 2004, BlogPulse has identified more than 14 million total blogs to date and analyzes posts daily. Intelliseek sponsors frequent webinars on blog-related issues, and several of its executives presented blog data at the first-ever research conference of the Word-of-Mouth Marketing Association (WOMMA) July 13 in Chicago.

Intelliseek's BrandPulse® solution measures other sources of consumer-generated media (CGM), including online message boards, forums, Usenet newsgroups, blogs and direct company feedback.
